Lucky Tea Cat
Desktop collectible · Self-Initiated
Project Goal
Design a desktop collectible blending cafe culture with the traditional maneki-neko. The goal was a piece that works as both a character toy and a lifestyle product.
01. Concept
A chubby cat relaxing inside an oversized teacup. Sketching explored different facial expressions and cup decorations. We locked the scale and proportions early so the 3D phase could focus on form and fit.
02. 3D Sculpt
The 3D modeling required careful attention to the fit between the cat and the cup, ensuring they could be cast separately but assemble perfectly. We optimized part lines for resin casting and minimal cleanup.
03. Prototype & Production Notes
Cast in solid PU resin for weight and premium feel. Painted with glossy ceramic-like finishes for the cup and a flocked texture for the cat. This case study demonstrates Popinker’s capability in character design, 3D sculpting, and prototype finishing for art toys.
