Material Guide

Choosing the right materials for your plush affects look, feel, safety, and cost. This guide gives an overview of what we work with at Popinker and how materials fit into the development process.

Fabrics

Plush fabrics come in different pile lengths and densities. Short-pile options are often used for a smoother look and easier cleaning; long-pile gives a fluffier feel. We help you choose based on your design, target age, and budget.

Filling

Filling gives the plush its shape and softness. We use safe, tested fills that meet relevant standards (e.g. EN71, CPSIA where applicable). The choice of fill affects firmness and cost; we can recommend options for your product and age group.

Trims and Embellishments

Eyes, ribbons, and other trims must be securely attached to avoid choking hazards. For young children, we often recommend embroidered eyes and minimal loose parts. We can advise on attachment methods and testing so your plush stays safe through use. This is part of our toy development process and how Popinker works.

Safety and Compliance

All materials we recommend are chosen with safety in mind. We can coordinate testing and documentation for your target markets. If you have questions about recycled or certified materials, we can outline what’s available.
